PostLife

Help and Frequently Asked Questions

General

What is PostLife?

PostLife is a service designed to allow you to securely write and store messages (emails), which will be automatically sent to the recipients you choose only after your death or permanent incapacity is confirmed, based on a system of activity verification and confirmation by trusted contacts.

Is it safe to use PostLife?

Security and privacy are our top priorities. We use standard practices such as secure password hashing and secure connections (HTTPS). Messages are stored securely in our database. We strongly recommend enabling two-factor authentication (coming soon) for greater account security. Never share your password.

Is it free?

PostLife offers a free plan with basic functionalities (a limited number of messages and storage). We plan to offer Premium plans in the future with additional features, such as unlimited messages and greater storage capacity for attachments.

What happens to my data? Who can see my messages?

Your personal data and the content of your messages are treated with the utmost confidentiality. The content of your messages is designed to be inaccessible even to system administrators (although full end-to-end encryption is a complex future goal). Your Trusted Contacts never see the content of your messages; their sole function is to help verify your status if you stop responding. See our Privacy Policy for more details.

System Operation

How does PostLife know I'm gone?

We use a combined system: first, we detect if you have stopped performing your periodic "check-ins" for a prolonged period (including a grace period). If this occurs, we alert your designated "Trusted Contacts." Only if they confirm your death or permanent incapacity through a secure process will the system proceed to send your messages.

What is a "check-in" and how often do I have to do it?

A "check-in" is a simple action you perform within PostLife (by clicking "I'm Okay") to confirm that you are still active. You choose the frequency in the "Verification" section (every 30, 60, or 90 days). The system will remind you before the deadline (reminder functionality pending - Phase 4).

What if I simply forget to check-in or temporarily lose access?

Don't worry! If you miss a check-in, you will enter a "Grace Period" (e.g., 7 days) during which we will send you reminders (Phase 4). Only if you still do not respond after this period will we alert your Trusted Contacts. They will try to contact you. If they confirm you are okay, the process stops. Also, if you access your account at any time, the alert process is automatically canceled.

What are "Trusted Contacts" and how many do I need?

They are people from your close circle (family, friends) whom you designate to help verify your status if you stop checking in. You need at least one, but we strongly recommend designating 2 or 3 for greater reliability. They are an additional layer of security to prevent erroneous sending.

What exactly do my Trusted Contacts see? Can they read my messages?

Absolutely not. Your Trusted Contacts NEVER have access to the content of your messages or your account. Their only interaction with PostLife is to receive an alert if you miss check-ins and to access a secure link to confirm your status (if you are okay, if they have not been able to contact you, or if you have passed away/are incapacitated).

Message Management

How do I write a message?

Go to the "New Message" section. You can choose a template as a starting point (recommended) or select "Blank Message." Then, simply fill in the fields: recipient(s) (their emails, separated by commas), subject, and the body of the message. You can save it as a "Draft" to continue editing later or as "Ready to send" when it's finalized.

Can I edit my messages after saving them?

Yes. In the "My Messages" section, you will see a list of all your saved messages (drafts and ready). You can click "Edit" at any time to modify them. Remember to save them again (as a draft or ready) after making changes.

Can I attach files (photos, videos, documents)?

This functionality is planned for future versions of PostLife, especially in the Premium plans due to storage costs. Currently, the editor only allows text.

Is there a limit to the number of messages I can save?

The current free plan has a limit on the number of messages you can save. Premium plans (future) will offer unlimited messages.

Message Sending

When exactly are messages sent?

Sending only begins after all these conditions are rigorously met: 1) You have missed your periodic check-ins. 2) The grace period has passed without your response. 3) We have alerted your Trusted Contacts. 4) A sufficient number of your Trusted Contacts have actively confirmed through our secure system that you have passed away or are permanently incapacitated.

Is it possible for my messages to be sent by mistake?

We have designed the system with multiple layers of security to minimize this possibility. The combination of missed check-ins + grace period + contact alert + active confirmation by contacts makes an erroneous sending extremely unlikely. Furthermore, if you access your account at any time, the entire process stops.

What if I recover after my contacts are alerted?

Simply access your PostLife account as soon as possible. Your login will automatically cancel any alert or verification process that was underway. Your messages will NOT be sent.
